Filling time

gregh  2005-06-09 23:31

Registration information for fall was made available today. Despite being in San Francisco, USF is remarkably backwards technologically. However, they're using the Adobe Reader to submit the registration forms, and distributing the content this year on the web.

I have two required classes next semester, Property and Criminal Law.

Property is 4 units and meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30. The final exam will be on December 5, the first day of finals. Criminal Law is 3 units and meets Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:30. The final exam will be on December 9. For those lacking the mathematics education I acquired in 2.5 years of engineering coursework, that's 7 units. I need to take 10 to 11 each semester; 11 would be ideal but is just about not doable.

If forced to do only evenings next semester, it means I need a Thursday night class in the 6:30 to 9:30 slot. That narrows down my options pretty good. Here they are:

  • Legal Ethics (a requirement at some point before I graduate)
  • Community Property (but this is only 2 units, and I'm not sure I want to take it at all, bar course or not.)
  • Antitrust (this might be interesting)
  • Federal Income Tax (not so sure I'm that into tax)
  • International Human Rights (why can I just imagine my head exploding in this class?)
  • Trial Practice (can't take it because Evidence, another requirement to be completed before graduation, is a pre-requisite.)

And that's it. Now, I need to get going on the tuition reimbursement plan at work, which gives me the ability to take up to 6 hours of time off to attend classes I can't otherwise take, and that opens up some other possibilities during the day. Except, of course, for that little detail that as a second-year part-time student, I am at the very bottom of the priority list.
