Evidence ran from 1:30 to 4:45 today, nearly right on the nose, for the first time in my law school career. "You're pros at this" was the statement used when telling us we could go ahead and start up SecurExam. In my 5th semester of law school finals using the software, that's pretty much correct. As a result, we started at 1:30 on the nose.
The exam was 2/3 multiple choice and 1/3 essay. I've never been too happy with multiple choice (yes, yes, I know they'll comprise the MBE) but such is life. I'd done 250 to 300 multiple choice and true-false questions in preparation. You would think that after so many practice questions, I'd be all set when I saw something similar, but instead, I found myself waffling between similar options I'd seen across multiple similar questions. Now I guess we just wait and see how that panned out.
The essay was very short, limited to 46 typed lines. I knew this going in and had practiced with the practice exams we'd been given to try to get used to the style. When you're used to hashing out the most minute details of fact patterns, limiting an answer to 46 lines can be tricky. I'm glad I practiced and had studied his model answers.
Next up is to complete my Patent Law take-home. I've been going through the multiple choice since leaving Evidence. I've got lots of details to sit down and pick apart; I've only confidently answered one, though I'm fairly certain on several others. I turn this bad boy in on Wednesday by noon, and my 5th semester will be done.
I'm not nearly as confident leaving this semester as I was entering it. I hope I didn't (and won't) mess anything up too badly.
