where do you get this

where do you get this information from?

From the registrar's office.
gregh  2006-01-06 09:41

They send it out at the end of the year. I don't remember it being sent after the fall semester.

Alternatively, it's posted in the glass display across the hall from the registrar's office. That's where they had fall semester information last year.

thanks

thanks for the headsup. love ur blog

Does the registrar ever tell you your exact class rank?
Anonymous (not verified)  2006-01-24 01:56

Also, would you happen to know when CALI awards are awarded or when the list of winners is posted?

No.
gregh  2006-01-24 05:28

From Academic Policies, Section II of the Student Handbook, "Individual numerical class ranking is not computed."

The new percentile distributions and CALI winners aren't posted until all of the grades are in. Our Contracts I grade didn't come until the end of January last year, despite the Osborn having submitted it mid-January.

How does one get qualified to be placed in this society? Is the list posted on a semester or yearly basis? Thanks

I'm not 100% sure
gregh  2006-02-02 23:40

I believe, based on what I've been told by the folks I know on the list, that it's the top 5%. I'm not 100% certain of that. I do know that my name is not up there, and I'm not in the top 5%, so it could be true. :) Maybe it's the top 10%? I can't remember how many people are on it. In any case, I'm pretty sure it's all based on class rank.

Beyond that, I think it comes at the end of the year.

You've now exposed me. I don't know everything!

it's the top 10% - all the

it's the top 10% - all the info is in your student handbook

Not in my student handbook.
gregh  2007-08-08 15:08

But perhaps that's my own fault, for never going and getting another one.

However, I had learned the details. Thanks for the correction. (I never think to go and correct comments, generally.)

L1 Data

Thank you very much for keeping the record!

One question, I see the 10% for L1 is between 3.547 ~ 3.553, but 5% is between 3.660 ~ above. I suspect the 3.553 is a typo, otherwise we have 5% students in the tight range of 0.006 (3.553-3.547=0.006). It would amazing to have 12 (241*5%) in that narrow range, yet nobody scores between 3.553 ~ 3.660 (the high end of 10% and the low end of 5%). which is a 0.107 gap (almost twice as 0.006). I would suspect the 10% should be between 3.547 ~ 3.653, just guess though.

Nice work!

Corrected.

[For clarity, the commenter is referring to these numbers.]

3.553 was the correct cut-off for the top 10%. The bottom numbers represent the top-end of the ranges, and I didn't collect the top-end of the ranges on the first pass. I pulled the HTML from the Spring 2007 numbers, and you can see in there where the 3.547 came from.

Thanks.

Class Rank

A huge favor is requested, I know you're really busy with bar prep but since you're in school all day help me out by posting the class rank when it comes out. Sadly, who knew 8 to 7pm was normal working hours for law firms, so I have no time to go to school and check. Feel free to ignore me though, if you don't have the time. Since you've graduated, I don't think you'd care about it at this point. I felt it didn't hurt to ask though.
