Always tough to figure out what to take. Plus, it's tough to know if anything else will come up between now and then. Among other things, it sure wouldn't hurt a thing for me to find an internship or something somewhere along the way. In any case, having scoured the schedule, I think this is what I've put together for my final year of law school. I'm happy to hear comments about some of these classes. What would this mean in practice? For the fall, I'd have to take my day off as two half days, so I'll have to get approval for that. For the spring, my day off would be Thursday, instead of Friday, but I'd only have class two days per week.

We still don't have our class schedules for the 2007-2008 school year. Am I too impatient about some of these things? Maybe. There's a certain sense of comfort it gives me, knowing what's available and trying to figure out what I'll be able to wedge into my schedule. Last week, I wrote that they should be out any day. I said that based on last year and the year before, which indicated last week was the week. It wasn't. Now, of course, I'm hoping they come this week. 19 units to go, and I want to know how I'm going to be able to fill them.

If the registrar's office of the last two summers follows, we should see the schedule for the fall and tentative schedule for the spring -- finishing out my law school career -- any day now. For whatever reason, I always feel a little more comfortable when my schedule is all worked out.

Unofficial schedules have been posted by the registrar's office. I got everything I requested. Again. (Does no one want to take night courses?) I'm not overjoyed by this (overloading) schedule, and I may look into some changes. Monday 6:30 to 9:30 -- Legal Ethics Here's the thing about Wednesday's class. It's a survey course, covering Copyright, Patent, and Trademark. I'm doing Patent Law this semester. Does it make sense? I don't know, but there wasn't much else I wanted to take either on Mondays or Wednesdays, which were interchangeable because they both had Legal Ethics sessions. I really wanted to take Federal Courts with Professor Shatz on Tuesday night, but I also wanted to take Cyberspace Law. Federal Courts has a reputation for being an incredible amount of work, but also a great class. I've heard reports from two different people that it's the best class they had in law school. I'm leaning toward switching come January, assuming it's doable, but I don't know that I was a class that's a whole bunch of work while I'm also taking 12 units and working full-time. I've got some time to work it out.

Regular readers will note I've been quiet lately. I've been trying to crank out a paper, and that's been taking considerable time, mostly for me to sit and stare blankly at my screen. I know what I want to write, but getting the words to come out how I'd like them to come out has been proving more difficult than I expected. As a brief update on the scheduling this, I did finally submit my desired schedule, with one of the options I considered in a previous post: 10 units, 2 finals:
It's followed up with all sorts of contortionistic alternatives. We're supposed to have confirmation by mid-July. |
